I am so excited

WEeeirrd thinking about spring next year when it's fall of right now. Luckily I'm able to disregard the fact that the inspiration that can be taken from spring '12 shows is reserved for a year from now. Do what you want- those Christopher Kane flower prints and transparencies are super ill and I'm not waiting a year to post them as inspiration. Whomever says florals are just for spring is sorrily MISTAKEN.

$o $pent

Wandered around like a zombie today listening to boycrazy radio podcasts. Being sick sucks. On the bright side, I discovered this band called  Happy Birthday, so I think that fills my positive quota for the day on many levels.

Essential fall albums

Here are some albums, new and old, that will always make me think of fall. Pls don't judge on the number of 'best of's here- I'm not a newb. and they're pretty awesome despite being moderately mainstream. Also, King of the Beach came out last FALL so it's for sure appropriate. Anyhow, I've included the standout track from each one! PLUS an imboycrazy quote...

"If you have to ask him to make you a mix, he doesn’t love you." [Blind Leading the Blind Pt. 71]

  1. Robert Pollard with Doug Gillard- Speak Kindly of Your Volounteer Fire Department ["Frequent Weaver Who Burns"]
  2. Superchunk- Majesty Shredding ["Learn To Surf"]
  3. The Smiths- The Sound of the Smiths ["What's The World"]
  4. New Order- New Order Singles ["Procession"]
  5. Joy Division- Best of Joy Division ["Shadowplay"]
  6. Wavves- King of the Beach ["Take On the World"]

crazy bout Pumpkinz

Whose guilt about buying a $4 coffee overwhelms them more than the taste of the actual beverage? Meee! That's why the DIY Pumpkin Latte was invented. I'm getting a bit frenzied about Pumpkin lately, but for logical reasons, being that Pumpkin is the single best flavour evarr. Try out these recipes- new Pumpkin spins on classics: Waffles, Lattes, Pumpkin Pies (kay...), and Oatmeal! I'll admit that some of these food items are singularily Pumpkin flavoured, but that's not my point, my point is that you NEED the vitamins A & C that Pumpkin* is loaded with, so just doo it already.

[Waffles | Latte | Pie | Oatmeal]

*Hell yeah I noticed! Ahh I don't even know what p-u-m-p-k-i-n means anymore :/ Hey now that I'm overthinking things, what's up with that 'p' in there?

Jamie xx for BBC

Listening to Jamie xx's mix for BBC Radio 1. Sickest sunset right now at the best vantage point. When I stop and think about it, sitting in the almost dark, eating a (sick) salad and listening to an upbeat dj set on a Sunday night on my own could seem a bit laughable (to some). Good thing I don't care what others think! Let's just say It's been pretty cool.

nuvo-mod

I love 90s industrial, new york nightlife vibes with messy bleach blonde hair, shiny clothes, and art-school eyeliner. It's kind of like..nuvo-mod.* How pretentious am I? Don't answer that.

[Scan by me from this 90s French design magazine]

* The late 90s/early 2000s take on retro is still fresh to me. Austin Powers, Charlie's Angels, Josi and the Pussycats...the fashion in those movies rules, don't try to convince me otherwise.

pink's still rad

How about a blindingly pink shirt as a souvenir of summer? That goes for you too guys! Andrew Neuhues is all for it...while riding TWO skateboards. That's hot.

Youth Lagoon

Yesterday it was rainy for the first time in a while and, walking around the city alone like ScarJo, I felt like I was in Lost In Translation. Not in the 'so alone in a new city' way, but more like a 'downtown in a new city on a rainy day is actually beautiful' way. It helps to listen to iPod on shuffle and all the most perfect songs come on, like like Youth Lagoon'July that make you feel like you're in a movie.

Venice beach party

Let the boys of  Male Bonding and The Red Hot Chili Peppers show you a good time. Though I'll admit it's not that hard not to have a nice time in Venice Beach; such good vibes. I would include "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" by Against Me!, but that was so two months ago..not to mention the boys in the video appear to be having not such a nice time in Venice Beach, so I take back what I said earlier. Uh oh..good thing unreliable narrator status is pretty badass.
