CRAAAZY

Just returning from the wesside of North America (Calgary, Portland, Seattle), this music brings back not so distant memories from my trip. I can't get enough of these songs aaaand I'm pleased to see they all have interesting videos: Male Bonding is a live video promo for their new album, the Breeders one is directed by Spike Jonze, Kim Gordon and Richard Kern, and the National video features a man who looks quite similar to John Lennon which is always a plus. Speaking of Male Bonding, their new album "Endless Now" is out August 29! And they're playing in Toronto September 2nd!! CRAAAZY*

*I've been over enthusiastic about my new stovetop espresso maker today. There is such a thing as TOO much coffee.

Thurston Moore type

[Clockwise from top: Dave Monks, Tom Vek, and Damian Kulash]

Thurston Moore is it. I could listen to him freestyle for days. In the intro for 1991: the Year Punk Broke, it really does feel like he could literally freestyle for days. Carrying around a toy tape and mic recorder with him wherever, he stages impromptu interviews with everyone- from Dave Grohl to the weinie roasting German man who is all knowing on the subject of "wersts." Let's just say, this guy is kind of a big deal. Not to mention he's on the top of my list of people who I would invite to my ultimate dream jam sess in my basement.
Being the observant person that I am, I couldn't help but notice that T. Moore has manifested a "type" in indie rock. Lanky physique and floppy brown hair + the ability to not take himself too seriously- see Dave Monks (Tokyo Police Club), Damian Kulash (Ok Go), and Tom Vek!

girls girls girls

You can dress like a boy if you want to. Boys reading this can just dress like a Stroke. "Boys want to be them, girls want to date them.." Win/win situation I guess.

Invisible Monsters

"The most boring thing in the entire world is nudity. The second most boring thing is honesty."

[Kate Moss, Chris Scarborough, Vivienne Westwood fw 11]

Invisible monsters by Chuck Palahniuk was the most fun I've ever had reading a book. I highly recommend it if you're find yourself in a reading block this summer. Currently reading the Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton, which I recommend as well!

Ceremony

I'll break them down no mercy shown, heaven knows it's got to be this time.

I love car trips..I love being the passenger. That's probably why I haven't gotten around to getting my drivers license yet. Listening to music and watching light and trees and cars flash by is the most relaxing thing for me. I feel like my brain becomes clearer and more in tune with everything that's going on in life. Perfect for when I just want things to stop for a few hours. Just slow down. Time to think, reminisce, zone out and a chance to really listen to music. Top song to listen to while the sun is setting: Ceremony played by either New Order (hopeful- for the car ride there) or Joy Division (wistful- for the trip back home).

summertime clothes

It's summer, you wear whatever you want. That gets me thinking...why don't people dress like they're on vacation all the time. I don't mean wear cutoffs and flip-flops in February but just remembering to have fun with clothes. I'm really into jean on jean, ratty cutoffs n sweaters, nightwear during the day, chokers, and loose tshirts. Jealous of the lords of dogtown who don't think twice about dressing like it's summer all year long.

[Lately inspiring: Cutoffs n converse: Tumblr, round glasses: Woluf, Jean on jean:, Mary kate's sandals, studded converse: Bess NYC, savagely ripped jeans: Universe of My Own, Milla Jovovich in Dazed&Confused: Glitter and Ink, Lords of Dogtown, icy blue tshirt: Sewing Limbs, Wade Oates from the Virgins, Nathan Williams from Wavves givin thumbs up, Choker, Kurt with a satchel and a flipper shirt, Cindy Crawford's Pepsi ad, Blue mermaid eyes, awesome summer layeringChristeric]

what's inside her nevurr dies

Writing my 2nd memorial post ever in the span of one week? This isn't something I would have predicted..so tragic. Listening to He Can Only Hold Her will remind you that Amy Winehouse was actually an amazing musician- me and my sister were obsessing over this song at the beginning of the summer..soo so good.*

*sorry for the fragmented sentences, my brain isn't working so well today
