Moleskine III

Terry Richardson and Juergen Teller inspiration from my  photography project I did a while ago. Both photographers create this creepy atmosphere of being cold and alone..or like making the subjects look bizarrly supernatural without blood and guts. For the record, I definitely admire these photographers for their work, not for their personal agendas.

Interview @ OCAD this weekend :) Shubbiguud!

Good morning!

Studies show a direct correlation in relation to the amount of sun in one's bedroom and their overall attitude towards the world. How are you this morning?

Gone Too Soon

It's quite misleading when there's sunshine streaming in the window and clear blue skies in view from bed but then when you get up you realize that there is still a significant amount of icky dirty snow covering the grass. Nonetheless I arose 100% ready for Spring...but not necessarily for Spring 2011. Looking at past ElleGirl (rip) issues I was reminiscing on how awesome the Spring 2006 season was. I feel more fulfilled in seeking sartorial queus from past seasons as opposed to constantly thinking about the next trends or seasons out of reach. I also find that looking at past seasons makes me think of the ideas instead of the clothes; meaning the styling of certain pieces together, the color combinations, or cultural references the designer had in mind.

Luella (rip) Spring 2006 on the other hand is EXTREMELY relevant. Despite being panned by critics for being "too young"* (at least for the high price points), this collection recieves top scores from a 17-year-old and is totally right for right now. For the record I'm not saying that I hate all new trends. That's not it at all! I just think that a combination of the past, present, and future is what it takes to not be a trend slave** and remain original with your soul intact.

SEQUINS:   Chunky paillettes look awesome with layering. Remember t-shirts over long sleeves? This is how it's done.

BROGUES: Worn without socks, these shoes go well with all three looks..although I'm really into the all white look to the right (hello spring 2011 trend!)

SUSPENDERS: Never would I have thought that suspenders could look kinda cool..again, this is how you do it RIIIGHT! Also diggin the hotpants with the cardi- all about the juxtaposition!

Soft Grey Light

Proenza Schouler hair, matte papaya  lips and the winter-cabin-fever-brown eyeshadow are quite beautiful. (Karolina Kurkova for Grey Magazine) Pretty pastel nails. Looking forward to the pale grey light of spring; saying it with "Highschool Lover" by Air.

Teen Dream

I fully embrace the commercial, tacky, over-the-top pink vibes that only Valentine's Day can bring. When your sister starts off your morning by sending you a sing-o-gram signed "Glenn Coco," the day's destined to be awesome. Not to mention my burgeoning excitement about  all the red n pink heart paraphanaelia on major clearance tomorrow! The great thing about Valentine's Day is that hearts are universal and can be used all year round! Could you do that with pumpkins or trees? Nah man. Point proven: February 14 isn't all that bad guys.

In the spirit of this "ABOMINABLE MARR ON SOCIETY AS A HALLMARK FABRICATED HOLIDAY," let's celebrate with our favorite pretty in pink movie characters!

[Amy Poehler in Mean Girls "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom!" | Sissy Spacek in Carrie: where the movie could have ended happily | Duckie in the pink wonderland that is Andie's bedroom (Pretty In Pink) | Glinda the good witch. 'NUff said.]

Pink Citrus

I really do like differing pink shades paired together in an outfit. Warm colors trick your brain into thinking it's hotter than it is. Wouldn't it be amazing if we had a day where everyone had to wear warm tones? Juicy combinations of grapefruit and blood-orange are what I have in mind..with bright orange lipstick! Elle Woods would concur.

PS: Whitney Port looks super bedazz here in her white suit. A white suit will always remind me of  Miriam Toews' character Thebes from The Flying Troutmans, who  wears an all-white suit with play gun-holsters and ratty, faded purple hair. I know for a fact that I will wear an all white suit in my lifetime..bucket list!

Youth In Revolt

My Earthly Belongings: Sorry guys I can't really link you to a site where you can buy things like retainers and jesus bracelets, so just think of this material object collage as a portrait of my seventeen year old life as opposed to the ever-popular "what's in my satchel" type post.

[Top left clockwise: bottom retainer, 2nd gen. iPod nano, radical pink toothbrush, Youth In Revolt by C.D. Payne, paddle brush, Eskuche bling headphones, page a day illustration Moleskine, Island Breeze BAN deodorant (smells like fresh laundry), goody child barette, urban decay eyeliner, radical pink top retainer, aaaaaaannnd a Jesus bracelet! Better things to do

Salt Lake Cityyyy

...and by that I mean Lake Placid! I get the two confused so much- on the morning I woke up to leave for Lake Placid, I was incessantly singing "Salt Lake City" by the Beach Boys- curious! Had lotsa fun: did art, watched american tv (Bonanza, RuPaul's Drag Race, Wife Swap. Some really stellar stuff.), took pictures of the bleak NY state scenery and learnt how to snowboard! Unfortunately there isn't a song entitled "Lake Placid" so I must settle for the Beach Boys' "Salt Lake City" instead.

[Top to bottom: my ceramic block printing experimenting, moleskine doodling, ice castle in somwhere, NY, and a brown and yellow house.]
