Nxne recap// Matthew Good Band "Load Me Up"

Vague NXNE recap in the form of "what's in a NXNE volunteers' bag?' photos (via Static Zine) and the video for Matt Good Band's Load Me Up, who played Yonge & Dundas square last Friday night.

On the Saturday that we envisioned ourselves at the Radiohead show, we entered an alternate reality where nothing we expected of that night actually happened. Upon exiting the subway after doing a 180 when we heard the show was cancelled, we sat at a circular park bench, watched a guy on the street balance a glass orb, and eventually ended up eating some awesome Portuguese BBQ. On top of all that, we were then able to see the Flaming Lips; an awesome alternative when you consider what we would have done otherwise (cried ourselves to sleep).

The height of the evening took place during the performance of Do You Realize?? when the women that my mom and aunt befriended started dog dancing with their chihuahua. Simultaneously, guy in front of us was excaiming about all the beer he just spilled on his crotch. Despite the distractions of moving bikini billboards, ads for shitty zombie movies, and hairy shirtless men that make up Y&D square, Wayne Coyne's enormous fake hands that shot out lasers were still the centre of attention.
