citrus obsession//Pomelo

Citrus is the most beautiful food. The colours of pink and red and orange can only be described aptly by referring to the name of the type of citrus it comes from. These little drops of colour create a pattern that looks like a stained glass mosaic. Sliced horizontally, a citrus fruit is like a miniature Rose Window in gothic cathedrals.

This photo below is a chunk of pomelo. If you've never had pomelo, you should today. Imagine a giant grapefruit that doesn't taste at all bitter and has an awesome slightly crunchy texture. This fruit has gained notoriety on the cover of Toro Y Moi's Underneath the Pine that shows a pair of super wet lips macking on a pomelo. Yum.*

Tip: don't look up this album cover before trying pomelo; those lips and moustache make the fruit look a bit gnarly.
