I am so excited

WEeeirrd thinking about spring next year when it's fall of right now. Luckily I'm able to disregard the fact that the inspiration that can be taken from spring '12 shows is reserved for a year from now. Do what you want- those Christopher Kane flower prints and transparencies are super ill and I'm not waiting a year to post them as inspiration. Whomever says florals are just for spring is sorrily MISTAKEN.

Wandered around like a zombie today listening to boycrazy radio podcasts. Being sick sucks. On the bright side, I discovered this band called  Happy Birthday, so I think that fills my positive quota for the day on many levels.

Listening to Jamie xx's mix for BBC Radio 1. Sickest sunset right now at the best vantage point. When I stop and think about it, sitting in the almost dark, eating a (sick) salad and listening to an upbeat dj set on a Sunday night on my own could seem a bit laughable (to some). Good thing I don't care what others think! Let's just say It's been pretty cool.

I love 90s industrial, new york nightlife vibes with messy bleach blonde hair, shiny clothes, and art-school eyeliner. It's kind of like..nuvo-mod.* How pretentious am I? Don't answer that.

Youth Lagoon

Yesterday it was rainy for the first time in a while and, walking around the city alone like ScarJo, I felt like I was in Lost In Translation. Not in the 'so alone in a new city' way, but more like a 'downtown in a new city on a rainy day is actually beautiful' way. It helps to listen to iPod on shuffle and all the most perfect songs come on, like like Youth Lagoon's July that make you feel like you're in a movie.

Venice beach party

Let the boys of  Male Bonding and The Red Hot Chili Peppers show you a good time. Though I'll admit it's not that hard not to have a nice time in Venice Beach; such good vibes. I would include "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" by Against Me!, but that was so two months ago..not to mention the boys in the video appear to be having not such a nice time in Venice Beach, so I take back what I said earlier. Uh oh..good thing unreliable narrator status is pretty badass.

I love college

Reading Perfect From Now On, wherein John Sellers' accounts of his college experience in the eighties, has spurred my recent New Order kick. I've liked New Order since hearing Turn My Way in grade eight but there's a sense of nostalgia in their music that has brought me back to listening to them having just left for Uni. In his book, Sellers talks about how when he first moved into residences, he would judge which people he would want to talk to based on the music leaking through the walls. I think that's a brilliant way to judge whether talking to someone would be worth it: if I heard someone blasting this with an undertone of someone singing along, I would probably avoid said person in the hallway. If I heard Temptation or Ceremony drifting through a dorm door, I would do whatever it took to meet the owner of said quality music.

Marc Jacobs fall 2011 thick black eyeliner, icy red cheeks, and flesh lips is PERFECT. Now that the weather has drastically changed from summer to fall, walking about town will make people's cheeks nice and rosy, no cream blush needed. Isn't it funny how chilly weather only makes cheeks rosy in a cheery way whereas heat just makes you uncomfortably bright red all over? I prefer the former personally. With the rosiness taken care of, learn how to do the eye thing here.

September to December

Thinking the world is going to end due to being totally unaware of the Air Show and the RIDICULOUSLY ominous sounds the planes make pushed me to appreciate the little things in life (or bigger things, like being alive haha). My nerves are still recovering...luckily homemade muffins and new records (Male Bonding ya!)  are enough to comfort my shallow, gluttonous soul. My heart rate should be back to normal sometime hopefully soon...here's a first glimpse of some fall inspiration!
