new space age// retro expos

So excited about mid-century expos right now! The images that I've found from world fairs of the past have this aesthetic of an imagined space age that has come to life like living in a Jetsons cartoon or 2001: a Space Odessey.

Kisho Kurokawa's "Takara Beautillion" at Expo '70. This building is an example of "metabolic architecture"- the idea of a structure constantly evolving. Each little pod within the structure made of steel pipes is a living space that can be added to with other pods.
